Update: I chatted with a support rep at MS. He told me Windows no longer supports WMP and therefor it can't be downloaded. So I think that any repair install of a recent version would not include WMP anyway.

Gad, I hate PS. Is there any color combination that is legible?
Should be able to right-click the Title Bar of PS or Command Prompt then click Properties to make some choices that may work better for you. I like the blue background with yellow text.

There is no where I can find that says MS has stopped supporting WMP.
I wouldn't put too much stock on those "support rep at MS". I am biased on this, I must admit.

Anyway, other than wasting couple of hours doing Repair Install to find out for yourself, what do you have to lose ?

I've just done a clean install of 1803 using an ISO created by the MCT. I can assure you a default install includes Windows Media Player.

Happy surprise and apologies! We just had one of our frequent power outages and so had to restart the computer. There, on the desktop, was the shortcut to WMP - and it worked! So I conclude that Kari's method was good. Just needed to reboot.

I just completed a complete reinstall of Win10. I put an .mp3 file on the desktop, right-clicked it and WMP was a choice. Once it was open I right-clicked the icon on the Taskbar and Pinned it to the Taskbar, should remain there until I delete it.
