Win10 1803 Startup App not starting

Having a puzzling problem with an application in the common startup folder. I placed the shortcut of an application in the common startup folder, but when Windows boots it never launches the app. If I double click the shortcut, it opens just fine.

Task manager shows the app as enabled and in the startup folder. Following that, I set the permissions on the main executable to be Ran as Administrator in case it needed that.

    Any thoughts here?

    Hello Justin,

Does this app "run as administrator" with a UAC prompt?

If so, then that would be the issue. By default, Windows will not run anything that requires elevation at startup for security reasons.

To workaround this, you could use the method in the tutorial below to create an elevated shortcut to run the app, then place the elevated shortcut in the common startup folder.

The above will only work with administrator accounts though, and not for standard users. You could use the shortcut below for standard users in their startup folder instead though.

I had that assumption too actually. It's not meant to run as an administrator and I am not prompted by UAC. This isn't a straightforward application, so it may just be a problem within the app and it in fact does need to run as an administrator. Let me follow your tutorials and I will follow up shortly.
