    Turn off cortana in windows 10 pro 1803

    I'd like to use search (superkey/winkey activated) to open up programs not to search the web or the store apps if possible
    How to turn off cortana in 1803? Can not find any option in gpedit.msc no more, turnin off cortana worked in 1709 is it still possible or has this feature been removed from win 10?
    Below a pretty image of what i mean.

    Thank you Dalchina for your link;
    found following the tutorial that it is no longer possible to turn off web/app search in 1803:

    "Version 1803 has altered Cortana/Search for even PRO so you can no longer turn of web searches in Cortana using gpedit.msc or a simple regedits. It is still possible to turn it off using following regedit. I do not know how to reverse it though."

    I guess this answer my original question and the feature "turn it off" is no longer available given that I do not use regedit.

    Hi, you don't have to use a registry editor as such..

    Put the text in post #4 here
    Turn On or Off Search online and include web results in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
    into a file with extension .reg then double click it and merge it.

    However, note the caveat about reversibility.

    Another option is completely different- use a start menu replacement. (Usually you can use win 10's menu with one of these installed- and uninstalling it leaves you with Win 10's again)
    The best has been Classic Shell start menu, but this no longer works with the latest Insider build, so may very sadly become obsolete.

    That leaves other options which are less capable such as Start10.

    I had a similar issue upgrading in a previous version it was actually a bug, sadly I need this pc as a Virtual machine host so I'm replacing win 10 with ubuntu 18.04, at least i can be confident that my settings will not be erased with some random update, windows 10 is really good looking but unreliable; i need a system that does what I want, not what he wants.
    Thanks for your kind help.

    I use it. You can revert changes.

    EDIT: I suppose that I should point out that I keep Cortana completely disabled which is not recommended.
