Icloud for windows 7.5.0 breaks service TCP/IP Netbios Helper

Once I upgraded from Icloud for Windows version 7.4 to version 7.5.0.34 I found that TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper was continuously using 15% CPU which it had not previously done, and file explorer was non responsive when I clicked on the menu bar where I had it. I was able to get a file explorer window open by clicking on the folder choice in dropbox. When I tried to reach any network share explorer would just hang. I was forced to restore from backup to get things working again.
I tried removing icloud for windows first, restarting and then installing icloud for windows and the same behavior occurred. Apparently there is some incompatibility on my machine between the new version of icloud for windows and Netbios Helper.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Is that the latest version of iCloud? I have no idea which version I have but it’s the latest one offered by Apple software update. I don’t seem to of noticed the same problems. Did you try uninstalling iCloud control panel and restarting and seeing if those problems still exist? It sounds like you uninstalled , restarted, reinstalled. Just be good to confirm your problems go away if iCloud control panel is not installed. Maybe if things return to normality try reinstalling the older version. From what I can see the new version offers absolutely nothing noticeably new or superior to the older versions and just appeared to be another case of Apple pushing out an update just for the sake of pushing out an update!

Once the new version 7.5 is installed (either as an upgrade to 7.4 or after removing 7.4 and restarting) it breaks netbios and no amount of removal or reinstallation or sfc /scannow fixes the breakage. I have to restore from a backup. So my solution is to restore the backup and ignore the apple update suggestion. Sadly this means I cannot update itunes either since that and icloud share a lot of code. I put this on the apple and technet forums too in case someone there has ideas.

Hopefully the Apple forum may yield advice. I certainly have my own feelings of disdain towards iTunes and some of its problems. I don’t have system crippling issues like you unfortunately have but there are many frustrations. Apple QA is almost as bad as Microsoft’s! But both are so awash with money they don’t care
