vlc movies looks ugly in windows 10, windows 7 always fine
I already used it in multiple versions.
And in all windows 10 versions vlc movies looks ugly, because they are very dark and it looks like full color range, even i have in nvidia set limited.
And in mpc it looks fine.
In windows 7 i never ever had problem, i prefer vlc and i know it already.
Using geforce 780 latest drivers.
I don't know where is problem, thanks you for help.

That's why I stopped using VLC since Windows 8. Something to do with taking screenshots did not work in Windows 7 but the videos were sharp. Only MPC-HE/BE with EVR only set gives me a much sharper image with Windows 8/10.

VLC looks just the same as any other player for me, but then I don't have Nvidia - mine is Intel HD.
-
VLC looks the same no matter what PC you have.
The quality and resolution of the video is the #1 factor. Then your video card and monitor/TV and its resolution settings.
-
VLC looks quite acceptable on my nVidia GeForce.

Actually, I just installed VLC v 3.0.3 'Vetinari', it's fraught with bugs! Doesn't handle 4K too well either!
WMP not much better,
MPC does best...

I have found with some of the latest VLC and VLC Beta, that when I play 4k content, it will show a black screen but audio plays, run the same vid through MPC, runs fine.

Shark007 and windows media player plays all videos with ease. 4K too, providing your video card and display supports 4K.

Edwin, how can a snapshot of still video prove anything. they all show a photo from the video in your photo.
In WMP, what codec pack you using. Shark007. and if so, you using the simple default play all in WMP with LAV or advanced setup using FFDShow.
Because every PC I have played 4k videos with WMP and shark007 with LAV or FFDShow, they all play flawlessly.
If you are using K-Lite, that is a malware/virus infected program that crashes your PC all the time. total junk.
Oh and Edwin, try turning OFF hardware acceleration and the black screen will probably turn into the video.
and installing multiply media players and codecs or codecs that are installed with media players will cause issues.
All you ever need is Shark007 and WMP. Never a problem on XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 10.
