That is for SDR Video Standard dynamic-range video 8 bit. They are useful for low light video and are compatible with CRT displays and they have a limited dynamic range. There is more to it and does not work without displays setup for it. I also believe that is for Windows TV & Movies and for Streaming video. That will not do anything watching Videos in a media player on PC. You have brightness controls on PC and display adapter settings and brightness controls on TV or monitor or monitors with light sensors to adjust brightness and usually brightness controls in most media players

I agree. I am AMD all the way. Sockets and Video. Radeon video is the best there is. FX CPU's are the best. 1:40 a.m. Bedtime. Take care Mike!

    Hi folks
I don't have any issues with VLC however I notice some non nvidia / intel video cards are being mentioned --on an AMD computer KODI works perfectly so you could try that

That said I don't have any issues with VLC -- so I suppose just different hardware is causing your glitch.

I do use KODI though on an Amazon Fire TV stick on a remote TV when I'm watching content from a computer HDD. If you use KODI on the fire stick you don't need any media server on your computer -- just ensure the HDD's with media content on them are shareable. VLC sometimes has problems when used on smart TV / Amazon fire stick TV in picking up remote connections and always asks for a wretched password -- Kodi works just fine.

I rarely use a local computer for watching video -- movies etc are so much better on a nice big TV flat screen !!! I can probably put up with 30 mins say on a smart phone if on a train / bus but that's my max tolerance limit (each to their own of course) !! however Kodi also works fine on tablets / phones.
