install .net 3.5 gives error code 0x800F081F

    Hi Guys

apologies if this is the wrong forum...

I have just upgraded a new dell laptop i7 / 16gb ram from windows 8.1 pro to windows 10 pro and all went fine.

I need to install sql server management studio 2014 on it, but it requires .net 3.5 first, so I have gone into the windows features and added this in and it keeps bringing back error code 0x800F081F after trying to download the files from windows update.

I have done some research and amended "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair" in the group policy but that has not made any difference.

I am logged in as a admin / have turned off all firewalls, but am stumped.

Any help would be great, many thanks

    Steve

You can use the following tool, it was designed for windows 8, but it's working with Win10.

Thanks for the reply Zeravlax.. :)

I managed to solve yesterday, by downloading a full iso image of windows 10 pro and then running...

    DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:e:\sources\sxs

From a elevated powershell and it installed it fine. Which then let me install SQL Server Management Studio 14

If anyone else is reading this thread - just change the command above to point to where your file is - in my case it was an E:\ Drive hence

    Source:e:\sources\sxs

    Cheers again
