    Corel Paint Shop Pro XI

I have been running Corel Paint Shop Pro XI on my Win 7 Pro 64 machine. I bought 2 laptops with Win 10. One has Pro and one is the home edition. I can not get the Corel program to install properly, and that means it will not run properly. It appears to get to the point of install, reading zero time left but the last portion of the bar never finishes. When I x out and then use the short cut it will not open the program.

It is from a disc and I have the serial number. It was originally for a Dell machine and came with the computer. I realize it is an older program (2006) but it does what I want it to do on my Win 7 machine.

    Welcome to the forum.

It might be an issue of single-user, single device license. Thus, one can't populate a household of devices with the once-purchased single-license software.

If Corel Support can recognize and acknowledge the Win 7 device is no longer active, it might allow an install to one new device, albeit a Win 10 one. I am strongly skeptical it would, because it can't really provide support for its outdated software on a modern OS.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I have no reason to think this is a single user license - at least that it enforces it automatically. I have had it on a prior Dell machine (the one it came with), and ran it on the current Win 7 machine at the same time. I also had it on my son's laptop (though I remember installing on there, not using it).

I now no longer use the Dell, and was hoping to install it on my wife's new lap top. It gets almost there and locks up. It never asks for the serial number. My son's machine died and HP sent him a new machine and it won't install there either.

I would contact Corel support on the matter.

I sent them a message. I don't expect to hear back until tomorrow or Tuesday since I wrote over the weekend. But, I also expect them to say the program is too old and they do not support it.

As expected they just told me it is not compatible with WIn 10 and offered me a discounted upgrade.

I wonder what Corel did to it to make it incompatible after they bought it from Jasc?
My 17 year old Jasc Paint Shop Pro version 7.04 runs fine in 1803.

Have you tried running the installer in compatibility mode? Try using XP compatibility settings.

It's possible that is the issue, I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 that is marked with the Gateway name on the CD case, it will not work on any other brand and I currently don't have a Gateway computer. Oh, it will install but the Product Key won't be accepted to let it be activated.

Thanks for the idea, but it will work on my HP Win 7 machine. I think something conflicts with Win 10; and I do not know how to make Win 10 run as if it were Win 7 - or if that is even possible.

As I suggested earlier, you can make the installer think that it's running in Windows 7 (or, better yet, XP as PSP XI says it requires XP(SP2) or 2000(SP4)) by using the compatibility settings to run the installer.
