    Rufus Updated to 3.0


    Brand new version of Rufus released:

    Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

    changelog:

    Version 3.0 (2018.05.29)
    • UI redesign to follow the flow of user operations (with thanks to Fahad Al-Riyami for the concept)
    • Drop Windows XP and Windows Vista platform support
    • Switch all downloads to SSL and use Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way as the new base URL
    • Add ARM64 support for UEFI:NTFS
    • Fix delays when querying floppy drives during device enumeration
    • Improve support of efi.img files on Linux ISOs
    • Improve support for non-ISO9660 compliant openSUSE Leap ISOs
    • Improve translation support and remove manual positioning
    • Internal fixes and improvements

    Thanks for the heads-up. The new version looks a lot less vexatious than the older ones. As far as I can tell, it doesn't reset the layout when you pick an ISO file, either, as the old one would do. Good stuff!

    IMPORTANT: Once again Windows Defender (starting with definition update 1.269.1834.0) is erroneously reporting that Rufus 3.1 may contain Trojan:Win32/Plutruption!ARXep. We have reported this to Microsoft, who have confirmed that this is yet another false positive and have updated their definitions to clear it. If you are affected, you are invited to re-download Rufus 3.1, as we have put a new version online that shouldn't trigger the antivirus.
