Can't uncompress an image, not enough space?

I've downloaded a 128GB image that I plan to put on an SD card. It is compressed using rar. I'm attempting to move the file from the rar one of my spare drives but it won't decompress properly. I keep getting an error stating there is not enough space on the drive. Again, the image is 128GB. One of the drives I was attempting to decompress it to has over 400GB free and the other has just shy of a full TB free. I have no idea what the issue may be.

WOW....what kind of image (photo) that is 128 GB? Is this an image of a OS that you plan on installing?

I believe there's some sort of file compatibility issue (format style) between said image and the SD card. I think you might need to address that first....if you even can.

What filesystem are all of your drives using? FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit so if one of your drives is FAT32 you won't be able to create a 128GB file on it.

I downloaded a large RetroPie image for my Raspberry Pi. It's an image with the system already loaded and 128GB of ROMs, all ready to go. Anyway, I was using 7-Zip. Usually, I just grab the file I want and drag it out to wherever I want it. This kept failing, like I mentioned. Finally, I decided to actually extract the file using the extract command, rather than dragging it out. That worked. I'm wondering if, when I drag and drop out, if it moves it first to a temporary spot on my main drive, which doesn't have as much space free, where using the extract command works differently.

Anyway, I finally got it to work.
