    Issues with Ccleaner

With Ccleaner, it's saying the software is not updated each time I go to update. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Also, it says an application (I think Microsoft SmartScreen) isn't working due to my internet connection not being connected. My Wi-Fi network is connected to this computer. This is my mom's Acer Aspire XC-603G Desktop PC. Below are the screenshots describing what is going on.

Can't comment on CCleaner, but Smart Screen has had a problem with at least some browsers since 1803. There's a thread made the rounds a day or two back. Sorry but I don't have time to track it down for you, but you can give it a try.

The timing was coincidental, it didn't seem to be anything specific to 1803, There appeared to be a problem at Microsoft's servers. This was the thread...

    Windows Smartscreen down?

Okay. Thank you everyone! I didn’t know if it was an issue on my end or what was going on.

    Two notes...

You can still download if Smart Screen is down. Click Run on that second screenshot of yours to continue.

The Slim build is a better way to update CCleaner, the difference between the Standard installer and the Slim build is that the Slim one doesn't try to trick you into installing any 'extras' like Avast or Chrome.

Same thing happened with me. . . after about 3 tries at the update, I finally uninstalled the program and reinstalled a new one.

Jesse, do you know if this event shows in your reliability history ?

    My update method:

    Issues with Ccleaner-ccleaner.jpg

Manually update when a new version is available. Wait for Slim Build to be released and install over the top of the old version.

    CCleaner - Builds

Any problem - backup settings file then uninstall Ccleaner using a decent uninstaller then install new version and restore settings file.

    EDIT:

Forgot to mention that you need to check that the option to save settings is enabled. Plus you might like to restore the old cleaning results list.
