Those "programs" you refer to are integrated in OS and are part of whole system, removing them would brake other parts. An example is IE that was part of the system ever since first version. Windows File Explorer, search and other functions are within same engine and none of that would work. You can't just remove part of OS and expect it to work.
sorry mate, but a web browser / Music / video player have never been a part of what is an OS.... they are just side programs... that u can enable/ dlete..... but those ****** of M$ are either bad in coding or just have bad wills.....
for me a well coded OS should be dividd in parts.... a core and addons.. and it's clear that at best this web browser... are addons..
and the frustrating thing about is that i will never use that thing but W10 decides to download his security updates with my 3g conenction not when i want (after 10 pm.. free costs) so it's useless and make me pay.....
PS. i created ths account just to answer to.... very upset on how ppl start to believe that they HAVE to do things as corportates want not the opoosite

PS. there is a link in a french forum about uninstall Edge.. if u want to give it a try..
link to forum Désinstaller le navigateur Microsoft Edge sur Windows 10
    link to download.. MEGA

It's really rather pointless trying to remove things MS regards as integral to their product offering, as every time MS issues a major upgrade, as now, they will be restored even if you have expunged them from your system.

For example, the start menu provided is relatively useless to me (my nicely structured categorised start menu I've used for years appears as a linear list under the major folders. The subfolders- including those created by each installed program- have vanished- but I don't try to remove it. I simply replace it with something that works and is useful.

You might as well move to a country called Utopia, maybe there is an OS that suits you to a T. I have used almost every OS during my considerable lifetime, Unix, TOS, DOS, OS/2, Linux, most Windows and some strange ones related to running automated machines and robots, not to mention Android. Never I could find one that was perfect and without annoying parts (according to me). All I do is replace parts and programs with ones that suit me better. IE, Edge I don't like, I use Firefox, no need to uninstall either of them. Multimedia, I use VLC, etc etc.
W10 no good ? You don't like or whatever ? Change/replace what bothers you or don't use them at all, just remember that one's garbage may be someone's gold.
I would be absolutely thrilled to be able to get bare Windows (in this case W10) without all that "extra" stuff but this is what I got and might as well make the best of it.
Largest part of evolution is adopting and adapting to good, bad and ugly, griping about things rarely can bring any change specially on personal level, all it does is frays nerves, makes you uncomfortable and makes it difficult to make best of what you have.

Just wondering what happens next time you run sfc \scannow.
It is actually better to delete those folders, rather than to deny access to them.
SFC can easily restore them, when they are deleted, but it can not change permissions.
I delete Cortana, because even if you are not using it, SearchUI is still running in the background.

    Removing unwanted apps

I understand t hat certain parts of Windows 10 can't be removed because they are integrated into the OS. Even so, there MUST be a way to permanently stop Cortana from pestering me. I have told it "No thanks" and the window still opens asking me how it can help. I do not LIKE Cortana,I do not WANT Cortana, and any user who buys Windows should be able to add/remove or disable unwanted/unneeded Windows components. I love Windows 10, but I DO NOT need a window opening while I am using my computer every 5 minutes asking me "How can I help you" no matter how many times I say "NO".

Strange, I've never seen Cortana open by itself. Ever.
