I have an Acer Win10 Tablet and since going Windows from my old Android Tablet I cannot get OFFLINE Google translator. This is important to me as I need to translate Greek sometimes when on my hols and there is no wifi available.
I know I used to have it - so is it because of Windows? I do not mind paying for it but have tried to download many time to no avail.

Alas, according to the Google website, offline languages are only available for the Android- and iOS-based Google Translate app.
So sorry for the inconvenience, but if you must "take it with you" on holiday, you'll have to do it on an Android or iOS device (such as an iPad). According to the information I can find, there is not Windows equivalent or alternative.

I thought that might be the case. I use Win 10 laptop at home for everything but also have an Acer Win 10 tablet for travelling. I do not really need Windows on holiday but do need an offline translator as although quite good with my Greek I need that extra help!
I am elderly but quite computer savvy. I have my laptop and my tablet set up with a windows 7 type desktop by using 'Classic Shell' as I have always liked this and cannot understand apps! I have another tablet which is Android - can I put 'Classic Shell' on to this?

Classic Shell only works on Windows OSes. I can't find anything similar for Android. You have to work with the UI for whichever version of Android you're running. I just picked up a Moto Force Z a couple of weeks ago that runs Oreo. It's actually pretty straightforward to use.
