Help with Windows Store and Update

I have tried, seriously every one of the things that the internet and MS has to repair, first my not being able to download from store or update, to now where a lot of windows apps are missing. Go to the online app store, and nothing happens. WSRes does not work, when I run the MS App Diagnostic, I get an error that I need a new app ms-windows-store. I've done all the powershell cmds I can find, I went so far as re-installing my Win 10 x64, only to now not have even Windows Photo Viewer. I even ran MS reinstall pre-installed apps tool. I have also tried apps from others that say will fix it, it don't. Please help guys n gals... what am I'm missing here. My biggest thing is why does Microsoft not allow external downloads or even letting us download these programs through the browser? Thanks in advance for anything you can pass along.

    Hi strat4play

When you said you re-installed Win 10 was that a clean install from freshly created media on a wiped storage drive?

Re: Help with Windows Store and Update

Caledon Ken, thanx and no I just did a refresh from image. I keep Windows on a C partition, and I have a D partition where I keep my pics, vids and music. I'm thinking I have to come to the conclusion of a fresh install with a wipe of both partitions. Do you agree? The thing is, I had only reformatted a month ago with a fresh copy of windows, and this problem came up last week. Any suggestions when I do the new install. Thanks again.

The refresh should have worked. If I were clean installing I would do what you said, wipe all.

I was asking about fresh media because we have seen installs that were done multiple times with bad media turn out bad.

Before you do that could I suggest an in place repair / upgrade. Since you are likely at V1709 this would be a repair.

Thanks Caledon Ken. Did the in place upgrade, went slow due to working on phone's hotspot. The MS tool worked fine. Just a question, can I delete the windows.old folder and the folder with the image the tool installed from. Thanks again.

    Use Disk cleanup.

    Agree with Count Mike.

Did the in place repair resolve issue?

    Everything worked well.

All's good now Caledon Ken. Worked great. Fresh new copy. Never touched my D: partition, so all the backing up I did was not needed, but it's all good...thanks again.
