MS .NET Framework Error: Unhandled exception has occured in your ap...

    Good day,

I have an issue with Microsoft .NET Framework. Every time I log into my session, I get a popup saying: "Unhandled exception had occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ifnore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will clos immediately. Configuration system failed to initialize."

I would like to get rid of that annoying popup. I don't know where it came from, nor do I know how to get rid of it. I scanned my computer for threats multiple times (and I still do). Still, doesn't seem to be a malware causing that. Can anybody help? Thanks!

PS: Right underneath the text label, in the popup window, there is a "Details" information box which contains the following:

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************

From what it appears the program SCM.exe is trying to contact an IP from a configuration file and not finding it.

Read more about the program here: SCM.exe Windows process - What is it?

If you can't uninstall it from Programs and Features, search for "SCM*" (in Windows directory as well as Registry) and delete each occurance. Create a back-up prior as usual.
