Classic Shell is excellent and works in 1803. I'll carry on using it until it stops working (if ever) then use one of the alternatives discussed in this thread or here Classic Shell no longer in development, and now open source

CS is no longer in development? That's a shame.
I've used it for years ... not because I want a Start Menu replacement, but instead because I want my old (pre-Windows XP) Start Menu.
CS does that for me.
If CS ever dies out ... then Windows becomes crap. Maybe that'll be the time to get a Mac.
Start menu - Windows 10 Forums
I suggest Start Menu X is the closest to Classic Shell start menu.
- still supported.
It appears that GitHub is working on CS so there may be hope yet. GitHub - coddec/Classic-Shell: Original code of Classic Shell (v4.3.1), original author Ivo Beltchev
Classic Shell now is called "Open Shell Menu":

Released version for Insider version where CS will no longer run Releases · Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu · GitHub 4.4.109 this version also will run on 1803 although so far CS continues to work on 1803
You may be confusing nightly builds with release builds the latest Release build is 4.4.109 all later version are nightly builds, working out the issues until they can release a build to the general public. I assume that will be sometime before 1809 starts getting released. For the general public CS original is working fine on 1803 computers
