    Weather app

    Hi

I use the Windows 10 weather app which resides in the taskbar of my computer and until the last few days has never caused a problem. System is Win 10 Version 1709 and all MS updates are current.

The problem is : when I click on the icon the bar beneath the weather icon is displayed which advises that the app is open. However the app does not open to the desktop. When I place my mouse over the icon I can see what the icon is displaying. I have uninstalled/reinstalled and attempted the advice proffered on this forum, on MS and Google but the problem remains.

All the other apps I use like Skype, Sticky notes etc are all working as per normal.

One thing that I have noticed is that when I click on the weather app when using Firefox, Google Chrome or have Settings open the top header in each one changes color from default blue to white in Settings, in Firefox to light gray and to white in Chrome.

Maybe the solution to this problem maybe simple but any advice/assistance would be appreciated.

You could unpin the taskbar icon, run the app then pin it back.

One possibility is that the coordinates of the window have been corrupted and it is trying to display somewhere off the edge of your desktop. If that is the case it can be corrected. Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and select 'Cascade windows', 'Show windows stacked' or 'Show windows side by side'.

Less likely, but another possibility is that you have multiple desktops (either by accident or design) and it is displayed on another desktop. If so, pressing WinKey+Tab should show all the desktops.

If neither of those are the case, you could try reinstalling and re-registering the Weather app, see this tutorial...

    Hi swarfega and Bree

Many thanks for your responses and advice.

Bree you win the prize for the solution. I do indeed run 2 monitors.
So I turned on the second monitor and guess what, the app was fully displayed.
Moved it to the main monitor and re opened app and everything is okay.
Still a mystery how it came to be displayed on second monitor which is normally
turned off. It is only normally on for Flight simulation ATC sofware usage.

    Again many thanks
