I've transferred a wedding CD to my desktop.
I've tried to open the file but get this:

Were the photos just copied to the CD or did they use a program to make a slide show?
In File Explorer and the Folder holding the images right-click one of them and choose Properties, should give the file type, usually .jpg but could be any image format such as .raw, .png, .bmp, etc. The format of .jpg usually creates the smallest file size, e.g. a 20MB .raw may be about 3.5MB after conversion.
On in File Explorer click View on the menu bar, click Options then on its View tab scroll down to Hide extensions for known file types and Uncheck it then go back to the Folder to see if it 'took'.

It appears your posted image is from Internet Explorer, wrong program.
