CCleaner removal of cookies and privacy

If you need to protect (save) individual cookies, you can in Ccleaner. (Options, Cookies).

Check you have not disabled IE cookie cleaning.

Note: some sites retain the fact you've signed out via cookies- really these should not be ones on which you do financial transactions. It sounds as though Amazon keeps that record on its server, so it may not be cookie dependent.

I suppose it might depend upon what version of windows 10 you are running and what version of ccleaner

It should be possible to clear Edge cookies on browser exit.

Why? Because it's easy to add portable browser profiles.

Example Chrome variant. Including profile in Ccleaner involves writing custom rules which takes ages.

Firefox, yes. But IE? Not really, but I love to hear how if you know better. I know you can use File Explorer to look at the cookies folder, but it's a pain trying to spot the ones you want to keep.

And in Firefox, if you use multiple profiles you have to open Firefox with each one in turn to clear its cookies. No, you're right. CCleaner is the way to go, whitelist cookies and clear the rest across all browsers and all profiles in one click. The paid-for version can do it across all user accounts too.

It's just weird that the latest 5 or 6 versions of CCleaner take 20 to 30 seconds to clear just a relative handful of cookies from EDGE...

I think it has more to do the latest versions of Edge. Starting with 1709 Edge now keeps a daily backup database, that too has to be cleared now. Look for the hidden folder %userprofile%\MicrosoftEdgeBackups.

I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone falls for this scam.

And I've never had this problem. This is just FUD.

QUICKER STARTUP
Many programs run silently in the background when you start up your computer. CCleaner helps you get to work, or play faster by letting you disable unneeded programs.
--> True ... but once again you don't have to buy a program to fix that!

It used to be snake oil from traveling salesman. Now it's snakeware and from stationary web sites. :)
