    Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Manager Attempt to Install and Fail

    I hope this is in the right place:

    Acrobat Reader is successfully installed and is functioning normally on my HP laptop. But Acrobat Reader and Manager try to install periodically and fail every time. I have researched this issue but cannot find a good fix for it. Does anyone have a suggestion to stop this?

    What error code is being kicked out of these failed attempts, should be in your event logs. Might help find solution.

    What fixes have you tried?

    There is an Adobe uninstall tool from Adobe. In some circumstances a complete removal an re-install will correct matters.

    If you don't have a data back up I would recommend you create one and it might be worth creating a system image just in case.

    Hopefully the error code will point to a direct solution.

    I get the same thing occasionally, dodgy websites with fake update popup messages, it used to be Flash Player but it's morphed.
    Ignore it and similar popups, clear Browser temporary files and so on. Run your AV and Antimalware applications.

    Always go to the legit source for updates, not some random popups which are to get you to download Malware, virus or whatever nasty.

    Even if that is wrong, it is a lot safer to only go to the legit source.

    Ken, I tried the removal tool and reinstall, but no joy

    Helmut, I have been ignoring it. Thanks for the advice. After getting the first popup notification, I immediately checked for pending updates. Amazing ... there weren't any! LOL Ignoring is easy! Have a good weekend ...

    Update: I finally found and downloaded a good copy of the Adobe removal tool. It had failed to complete previously. After a successful run, Adobe Acrobat Reader installed correctly. The worst part was finding reliable Adobe software. After that, it was easy. Thanks for the advice folks ...
