Double-left-click on CD Drive in Explorer invokes wrong app.

I’m having trouble with clicking on my CD drive which insists on running Windows Media Player. I want to replace WMP with PotPlayer, which I have installed and let it associate itself with a vast number of media file types.
    1. After much struggle, I have managed to get Autoploay to work intermittently for CD’s by doing this: used regedit to ensure that DisableAutoplay is set to 0 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers
    2. I have also done this:
Double-left-click on CD Drive in Explorer invokes wrong app.-image.png

Also go into settings>Default apps, under Music Player where I see this:
Double-left-click on CD Drive in Explorer invokes wrong app.-image.png

I have associated .cda file types to PotPlayer, so that if I right-click on the CD-Drive and then click ‘open’, I get a list of the .cda files on the disc, and when I double-click on one of them, PotPlayer opens and plays it.

    Fine.

However, and this is what is really irritating me, if I double-left-click on the CD-Drive, WMP opens and plays the CD. It is here that I want PotPlayer to be used instead.

Has anyone any idea how I can alter the effects of a double-left-click on the CD drive?

Hi, Please see this old thread which asks essentially the same question and points to the registry at the end:
Double clicking on blu-ray opens up Windows Media Player - Microsoft Community

I had a quick play without success before reading that:
My settings for autoplay seem to have been set to default by Windows- possibly on the last upgrade.

    Starting from

    Inserting an audio disk gives
Double-left-click on CD Drive in Explorer invokes wrong app.-2.jpg

I chose play with VLC - VLC opened.

Throughout d l clicking on the disk in file explorer simply opened file explorer.

I tried rt clicking on it and Open Autoplay
    This rather gave
Double-left-click on CD Drive in Explorer invokes wrong app.-3.png

    I chose VLC player.
(Note, rt click, play played it with WMP)

    However, this made no change.
The disk still opened with explorer when double l clicked, and rt click play still played it with WMP.

I'm afraid that this didn't work for me. I made the changes to the registry to no effect.
Never mind, it is a minor point and I think that I will contact the software vendors tom see if they can help.
    Thanks anyway.
