Skype not working on new Laptop

Having this Dell Laptop recently and setting the various email accounts and other programs previously used on my old HP laptop.

Now I've come to setup my Skype account to use it to contact my overseas contacts, when it is clicked I see a splash and nothing else.

Read various topics with this problem as it was a pre-installed version.
I uninstalled it and tried to get a new download.
Using the link to MS-Store it starts to download then a side splash tells me it cannot be installed and later an error "Code: 0x80073CF9".

Looking into this cause, Tried using WSReset.exe, did nothing to help only restarting "Store".
Tried uninstalling "Store" as some suggest.
    Re-installed using "Powershell procedure"
Folder "AUInstallAgent" was missing and created new folder.
Folder "AppReadiness" folderexists. Both of which are empty.
Tried a re-run of downloading Skype from the "Store" and still the same error.
Looked in the registry for the folder "OLE" in "
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft" - does not exist.
    Any ideas ?

    Hi.
Have you tried installing the desktop version?
Download Skype | Free calls | Chat app
(I don't use the Store app, so not sure about it.)
Might be a slightly different link for you in GB...

    Thanks,

In the end I found on my old laptop a "Skype setup" and used that to install.

Even with your download it had to be from 'Store', Skype would not let me log-in and yet when transferred to Skype website asking me to sign-in to verify I had no issues.
But when tried to sign-in again to the app despite using same email and PW it would let me sign-in.

But all is solved as said using my Skype set-up.

    thanks

Good news. Keep that old Skypesetup.exe file for future - it's gold right now! Too many people having similar issues to yours. Cheers!
