I am using v5.43 (x64) without issues here. At least, I haven't noticed anything different as before.

PS - I have uninstalled it from my Android smartphone. Too much advertisements there and I couldn't find how to disable on-the-fly analysis. It was constantly pestering me to do cleanups. What a frigging annoyance.

Just ditch CCleaner and use Bleachbit. No privacy issues, no installer issues, simple and efficient.

Or if you want to continue using CCleaner, get the Slim installer here...

...the same CCleaner, but none of the 'Avast' etc. 'extras' in the installer.

I have CCleaner for more than 2 years and did not have any problems with it. But I do not remember the last time I updated it either. Maybe it's their new partnership.

I am on 5.40. Later versions gave me problems, including not deleting all the cookies. I have check for updates disabled.

If those were the cookies for for *.avast.com and *.piriform.com then that appears to be another hidden 'trick' of the Standard installer...

...The Standard installer adds whitelist entries for *.avast.com and *.piriform.com so that none of their cookies would be deleted. The Slim installer doesn't whitelist any cookies at all.

Not those but I notice it adds Shockwave cookies after "deleting" cookies I don't want to keep.

Maybe I need a version earlier than the 5.40

Has anyone tried Unchecky? From their site:
"Have you ever felt, while installing software, that the installer tries to push additional unwanted programs at all cost? Ever missed a checkbox, and spent hours afterwards removing adware? Ever opened your browser after an installation, only to find out that you have a new homepage, a new search engine, or even a new browser?
Unchecky aims to keep potentially unwanted programs out of your computer."

Maybe it would help solve some of this?

Do you know what! I disabled ccleaner in startup on task manager and its had the audacity to re-enable itself. I think my usage of ccleaner is rapidly drawing to a close.

Following this Stephen Piriform post, I'll give them a last chance.
If they keep that attitude, despite being use it since the CrapCleaner days, Ccleaner is gone!!!
