    Just FYI

The free Revo uninstaller does not, as you say remove everything, but if you are using the Paid for Pro version and you set it to monitor the install, (Traced Program mode) It creates a registry backup, saves the changes to the registry and it will remove all items in the file system and the registry if you perform an uninstall
    Thanks for the information.

I just installed the latest version and I may have missed something, but I discovered right after that the horrible Avast anti-virus program got installed too.

I have installed many versions of CCleaner and I am aware that you have to check the box that says to not install any additional software, but I didn't see that box this time.

The only way I could uninstall Avast was to go reboot in Safe Mode and delete the entire Avast directory. The *******s who wrote it have figured out how to make it impossible to delete, rename, or disable any Avast file, directory, task, process, or registry entry while running in Normal Mode.
Okay I never understand the rush to update. Ccleaner Slim Build is usually released after the regular build. Just set ccleaner not to auto update and check manually.

See video of installer - no sign of Avast:

    Avoid AVAST offer

To avoid the offer of AVAST setup, during CCleaner installation do the following:

Open the Registry to the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AvastAdSDK
Double click on "LastOffer" and change its hex value to 70dbd87f
This will change the LastOffer date to 31/12/2029 11:59:59 and AVAST will not be offered again, at least not until 31/12/2029!

Alternatively download the AvastAdSDK 2029-12-31.reg file, save it on your desktop and after you unblock it merge it to the Registry.

You can stop the installation of Avast but it will still run a malware cleaner.. Just look at the finished scan screen.

I think Josey may be referring to this. The wording is a little misleading, IMO. It's cookies it removed, not malware in the classical sense. You get this if you don't change the output option to Advanced.

    Oh OK. Thanks Dick.
I have changed the view to the Advanced option so I don't see this. But I totally agree, this Privacy summary does mainly mean cookies... If that is what Josey is referring to.

Josey, I have been using CCleaner since the Win7 days...and has never failed me. I believe (to the best of my knowledge) that it cleans what you tell it to clean, by selecting the appropriate options.
If you have some other experience, I would be obliged if you can share it!

I have been using it longer than that but I will never use any version after 5.40. You can use what you want.
