I personally just make sure to uncheck on the machines i don't want Avast on, but most of the machines in the household still use Avast, as I've been using it for many many years, started in 2006, Not sure i trust fully Defender protection, so probably not switching anytime soon, unless it's the cause of why my Office 365 doesn't update autoly then i may decide to, but so far no plans to switch protection programs

OP is right. The latest CCleaner V5.39.6399 installs avast with no warning and no option not to install it.
In my case, Avast uninstalled easily using CCleaner.

I installed it yesterday , the option was there to skip Avast. I just tried again several times and it's there every time , it was downloaded directly from Piriform did you download from somewhere else ?

Hi Hillguy, Of course you're right. I'm blind as a bat and just hit 'Customize' without looking round properly first.

The problem is, that it is a scripted offer, sometimes it just displayed as a white background, but it is there.

No, you do not have to click on Customize, to see the offers, it should be right there at start.

This code looks interesting. I guess it is related to, when or if Avast will be offered.

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Google\No Chrome Offer Until]
I am not sure how you found these reg keys, but thanks...

The dates can be can be changed, but better yet, just delete the root folder:

    [CODE]
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Google

Doing so has no impact on CCleaner, or anything else for that matter.

Why bother with ccleaner? I don't see a reason to do so. And this thread gives reason not to!

Well i know it doesn't alert if have Avast already installed on system like i do on most of the household systems, instead offers Chrome if Chrome not already installed, which is as 3rd backup browser on all the systems. as for Ccleaner ability to use it to clean temp files and browser history with one go, is very convinent, and therefore i continue using it til i see a reason not to
