Windows Media Player Does not show subtitles

I know I can download codecs for this (which I have) or just use VLC, but how do you get Windows Media Player to show the subtitles of mkv files? Doing a right click and turning on Subtitles does nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you want to test this, just download any anime episode in mkv.

I just went through the headache of trying to fix this. Essentially, WMP uses something called Media Foundation as a way to determine the codecs used in a video. K-Lite Codec pack has a setting you can tweak that disables the WMP stock codec registry (or whatever it is) and you can then use whatever you install. Slightly annoying, but at the same time it's nice that they don't want you to use unapproved codecs or filters. Still, I have things a certain way and this kinda messed with them when I moved up to Win 10.
