    tks for that ! but just had a look and don't much like this app !! I've gone for 'QTTabBar' which look just the job see Edwin's post earlier. Also means it's familiar as just Extended Win File Explorer

    Check out Q-DIR, freeware+portable/install version, very small on footprint,yet very powerful too..
    Quad-window-explorer... You can customize the view as you please..
    When I spotted this gem 7 years ago, I haven't looked back.
    I just can't live without it, its less than 2Mb at size..
    Runs fine in safe-mode/WinPE/RE ..

It seems like the simple "open with" dialog has gotten worse with every version of Windows since they invented it. I avoided Win8/8.1, but cannot avoid Win10... and this is a feature that I use regularly, and absolutely hate what MS has done with...
So whenever I click File Explorer on the taskbar or in the start menu, Windows Explorer crashes and I need to go into task manager and restart it. But if I click a folder on my desktop it doesn't crash?
