    Looking for Video Software

Christmas was good to me, but now I need to pickup how to do video stitching

I got a Canon Vixia and I read that it can record in m2ts. Problem is that I know what's going to happen; I will be shooting videos and then the wife will say she wants them in one video as oppose to several.

I read about some free software's that can do the job, but it seems that most of them have some watermark when "stitching" together videos.

I need some guidance here, I am looking for:
software editing that's easy (I am very green here so the easier the better)
something that is free (if possible)
something where I can stitch two or more videos together to make one
something that does not alter or degrade the original videos when making the one
and something that can export the stitching as m2ts

Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated and if anyone else is using a software that meets these then please explain why you use it and the advantages/disadvantages. Again, keep in mind I am really green on this. Thanks 10 members

I guess you already tried a lot of video editors at this time, and I remember when It was my first time to do video editing and all I have is a Windows Movie Maker. Now there are a lots of video editor that provide advanced function including green screen effects. I'm now using Premiere Pro, which video editor are you currently using now?

    Hi there
do you want to simply snip bits off or do you want to also add effects, add more video to your file etc.

BTW you can change m2ts (blu ray format) to .mkv or .mp4 without loss of fidelity of the original easily enough -- if you do that first then you've a lot more options in your video editing choices (and playing as well).

I use a 4K UHD StarTech hardware video capture device so I can capture movies / TV programs from SKY Q and AMAZON Fire TV boxes -- these services don't have decent facilities to allow you to save the videos to Windows type laptops to play later e.g NETFLIX / AMAZON PRIME / Recorded programs on SKY Q -- so I use the hardware capture to a Windows laptop. I use an HDMI splitter which nicely removes the DRM from the HDMI stuff and have nice 4K UHD (when available) or 1080p as standard. I then split video's to remove where appropriate the TV commercials in some TV series from the SKY Q box.

The video capture works brilliantly as I can capture say an entire TV series over a night or two - dpending on the length of the series -- it's real time capture unfortunately) then split into episodes for later viewing.

I haven't found any software for "Compounding" i.e joining files together though - only for splitting.

I use Free video editor version 1.14.13 build 805 (last free version if you can find it on some archive site) -- ignore start up message "Your version is out of date" -- newer versions are PAID software unfortunately. The new free one won't allow 1:1 editing --i.e it will compress the video. This one keeps the original fidelity.

Just click close after the message appears.

It's very easy to split the videos -- as I said I do this to remove the adverts in the TV programs -- a lot of content now IMO seems to have far more commercial breaks than they ever did before !!

    Cheers
