    Piriform Deceptive Advertising

I'm getting told by Piriform that my CCleaner Professional Bundle license is about to expire. I thought when you buy something "one time," they don't expire as long as you save the key to somewhere safe and not have to worry about it. It didn't mention anywhere when I first bought a license that it was good for just one year, and neither did I attempt to look around in the fine print.

What really draws my ire is that every other software product is doing the same thing, where you buy a license for it and it's only good for a certain length of time and then it quits on you.

CCleaner Professional Bundle includes the professional upgrade to CCleaner, but it also includes Defraggler, Recuva, and Speccy. It's normally purchased at a discount than the individual packages.

Unless they go back and advertise the bundle with a disclaimer about a time-limited license, then I ain't wasting any money!

Dog-eat-dog world, everybody is in it for money. Free Ccleaner is waste of space and "Professional" also a waste of money. Those "added value" programs they are pushing also have free versions.
There are some good examples of fair sales which do not charge for new versions. My Revo Uninstaller I bought years ago just updated to newest version, Macrium Reflect from v6.xx to v7.xx and my Total Commander was bought many years ago as v0.52 and now it's 7.9x and all upgrades were free.

Not only that CCleaner is really not necessary and can create more damage than good. I liken it to a petrol chainsaw - a great tool in hands of a skilled lumberjack, but in hands of a novice - easy to become the Texas Chainsaw massacrer.

I hate to even appear to be defending Piriform's / Avast's sales practices, but, whatever you are thinking of purchasing, the onus is on the purchaser of software to ensure that the terms of sale and licence are acceptable - I highlight the Software purchase as you specifically have to accept the terms of the EULA by agreeing to it during Install
If you can prove that the nature of the sale/licence was not limited, then you have a case, I'm sure piriform can prove that the nature of the deal was stated in their documentation Caveat emptor has been a long term warning in most legal systems and still applies in the current time

I sure will agree that CCleaner does go a bit overboard cleaning more things than would be wanted and really over doing it big time. I usually really only rely on a few very good apps which many here I'm sure also use. For the most part many "free" things ain't free at all when you consider the time it takes to repair the mess created by some of this stuff. Let the buyer beware as the saying goes, because free things can get very expensive.

you're crying about something EVERYONE that owns software already knows. with that said countmike IS wrong, ccleaner even with the recent events Is a great program. as for it going "overboard" on cleaning, NOT! every aspect of ccleaner can be set, so if it's going "overboard" it's cause someone set it up wrong. as for can cause more damage thank a "chainsaw" sure if you're stupid enough to use the registry cleaner part of it. registry cleaners should never be used.

I use CCleaner pro, the license is stated as annual but tbh I’ve only renewed a key once which was several years after the original supposedly expired, the only thing which stopped working was the auto update feature, now Piriform have added the auto update feature to the free version there’s no reason to repurchase again.
