    there is software that boots up at startup and then allows you to inspect the content of the whole disk, but I can't recall any nor the category to which it belong to search for it.

    It does matter! You add data ALWAYS after the encryption took place! It is safer and can avoid advanced techniques that can find traces of previously unencrypted data.
