Funny, that's how I always do my searches. I never use the actual Search icon.
I can use it from the command line or via a batch file. I use robocopy to sync my D: drive to the NAS and it works fine.\ via a batch file.

Edit: Nope, only options are JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) , RAID0 and RAID1. I think JBOD is like the individual disks you were referring to.

I just pick up a ZyXel 325 NAS. Added two 1TB drives as individual drives (JBOD they call it).
I can map the drives as Y: and Z: via Map Network Drive but I can't see them from a Command Prompt.

I hear you, but since it's the easiest thing to try, replace it for awhile and see what happens. Costs you nothing if you can borrow one.

I opted for MusicBee and it works great, does exactly what I wanted using the /PlayLibraryShuffled command line parameter.
I can add or remove music and restart MB and it will find the new songs...
