Did you plug the battery back in properly?
Great for neck exercise!
That's my next step when I've finished fiddling about trying to identify and remove dodgy drivers as above. No crashes today as of 22:35.
See post 13 - I found Dell Data Vault still installed with a driver in Device Manager despite uninstalling Dell Support Assist
I get a BSOD and a dump file. Doesn't thermal overload cause a more sudden shutdown?
I found Dell Data Vault still in Device Manager and its driver loaded despite uninstalling Dell programs. I've now uninstalled that from DM with the driver.
It's a Dell Inspiron 5770
I did that recently in a Dell laptop and had to set AHCI mode in the BIOS for it to be recognised.
I ran Dell Support Assist and all is up to date. I spotted entries in the Event Log for the fingerprint sensor (Goodrix) and the Intel Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework every time there is...
Good ideas. What about screwing up windows activation if I install another copy on a separate partition?
I'm still having problems with BSODs on this PC. I updated Windows to 21H1 via effectively a repair install, removed most of the Dell bloatware and checked all drivers are up to date. Any ideas...
Problem solved! I reenabled and logged into that dormant account dsidd which was using the same MS account. There was no data there and I don't know the history since it's not my PC. Changed that...
See below. I suspect the account dsidd is a dormant MS account having the same name. How to remove traces of it?
PS C:\Users\David> Get-localuser

There are no other accounts shown on that page. I tried adding a new user with the same name [myname]@gmail.com but that was rejected since another user on the PC already has that name - but Control...

I'm updating a friends laptop. He has a local account I want to change to his Microsoft account. His MS login name is [myname]@gmail.com and he also has a Google account with the same user name but a...
I see these drivers associated with the SATA disk controller.

Might not be the memory which tends to cause crashes if at fault. Suggest you remove the laptop battery for a couple of minutes and / or try to boot into safe mode.
Also use Autoruns to check what third party stuff is loading and disable inessential items https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

The heidoc.net tool is handy for finding outdated versions of Windows Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool

That's probably why. Should have used Redploy to New hardware in Reflect. I noticed Windows Update installed driver Intel HDC 17.9.6.1019 which appears to be disk driver shortly after the first...
I'm updating a friend's Dell Inspiron 5770. I replaced the 128 GB M2 SATA SSD with a Crucial P5 Plus 500GB PCIe M.2 2280SS SSD. Before replacing the card I checked the system was functioning...
