Well it looks like my issue is resolved. The last thing I did was turn off indexing so I have to attribute it to that. I've not had problems before with indexing but it looks like this...

Reporting back: Since I turned off indexing I have not had the issue return. Now I hesitate to Mark as Solved as I aren't convinced quite yet. But if I had to pick a side it does look, dare I say...

All drives are direct to the motherboard. It's a Gigabyte X79S UP5 WIFI (rev. 1.0)
