This is a factory-installed Win10 laptop so that shouldn't be an issue. I've seen this reported on the Lenovo support forum and no-one seems to have an answer other than that the connexant drivers...

I have the same problem. Discovered it when Skyping. Intermittent - goes for days with no issues hen suddenly the device is still there but microphone not registering any sounds :sarc: So I uninstall...
