pokeefe0001, thanks. If boot times slow down again, I will try and use those ms tools to see if I can figure it all out, but man, so many things load during boot that I could be there weeks just...

pokeefe0001, thanks. If boot times slow down again, I will try and use those ms tools to see if I can figure it all out, but man, so many things load during boot that I could be there weeks just...
Do you know if the backup would also include the recovery part of the ssd on my laptop? I have never done a backup before but I would still want the factory win10 recovery section to be included...
Great idea thanks. I almost forgot to create a restore point. Is there any trick to make sure the restore point I want never gets deleted or replaced?
Thank you everyone for all the help and suggestions. I've done as much as I could and decided to reinstall win10 and all is good. I'm a linux user mostly and just never have any problems with it,...
All of a sudden my SSD laptop went from 8 second boot times to 16 seconds for no reason at all. It is hanging for quite some time before the login screen so I want to see what is going on there. ...
When you are making constant adjustments to the os and testing and need to reboot several times, 60+ sec boot times are very annoying. I add many programs, delete them, test things etc, so for me at...
Doesn't show that on my system but I will run a search how to find it an uncheck it thanks.
Thanks. INetCache does not show up even when I tick the box to view the hidden files.
Just checked the BIOS settings and fast boot is enabled but since I got boot time down to 15 seconds now, I'm happy with that until I install my SSD next week.
I thought 8 seconds for a HDD was a little optimistic. I got mine down to 15 seconds now with my 5400rpm hard drive so I think that is good enough. Now I can clone the drive to the SSD and see how...
Will read my manual to see how to get into BIOS and then see if I can see a fast boot or something like that thanks!
%temp% showed up as empty!
Disk clean did not delete the 2.7GB but that file does not seem to grow anymore so I might have to just give up on that one for now. If it started growing again, then I will focus on it more I guess.
Thanks dalchina, this gives me another option to work with as well if needed.
Thank you Steve C, very very helpful, I sincerely appreciate the help on this one!
NavyLCDR, would a clone or image of the disk work as well? I'm just trying to avoid all the bloatware that came with my laptop as it was extensive and takes time to get rid of it all.
Steve C, yes I would really like more advice on imaging the old hard drive so that I can put it on the new SSD please. I had a look at Macrium Reflect and was not sure if I had to image my HDD or...
Thanks Bee, yes I guess it is activated then. Been awhile since I've done that so was not sure.
I better read the manual then to see where the back up is. Did not delete all the bloatware and...
I have a few questions on this, so please bear with me!
1) I got a new laptop and Win 10 seems to be working ok. Win 10 has not asked me to register yet, but I guess it will before long. So,...
I tried that and Downloads Folder is 0 bytes and so is the Recycle Bin folder. After using CCleaner, that 3.5GB went down to 2.7GB after I unchecked the box that said to delete files 24hrs or older....
Is it safe to uncheck the "Delete Temp Files After 24 hours" box?
I did use CCleaner and the temp folder still shows about 3GB. Is that maybe how it is supposed to be? Maybe someone could look at their temp folder after using ccleaner and see how much it still...
Brilliant Bee, thank you very much :)
When I go to control panel and then storage, under Internet temproray Files, it shows 3.5GB. When I try and delete it, Windows has a message saying it will delete it and to be patient, but it does...
I know, but I thought it would be a good idea to tweak the system first and have it all running smoothly and fast with all the bloatware removed etc and then switch to an SSD. Got to hand it to MS...
