My Toshiba laptop (P875-S7102) has started notifying me that "Sleep and Charge is ready" several times a day.
It does this when I plug/unplug my phone from the USB -- whether I'm trying to d/l...

In the end, I think the real problem (that was under my radar) was perhaps the checked boxes on the compatibility tab.
Right click on the program file, select properties, then the Compatibility tab....

At your suggestion, I tried a different version of Winamp.
That solved it! I can open mp3 files in E: w/o granting special permission.
Finally solved! Appreciate your help...

I am trying to set a non-standard app to be the default for a particular file type.
When I try to set the default app, it's not on the list.
If I try to choose another app, "More Apps" is greyed...

I'm not concerned about the history, so that is not in an issue for me.

OK, I will be moving the data tomorrow to another flash drive (using a PC other than my laptop).
Will then try clearing the USB attribute(s) or reformatting to see if I can bring this flash drive...

When I hit the search button I typically want to start an app.
It would be convenient for me if the app was listed so I can just click on it.
(rather than having to type it in the search box)
