Hi,
I've got a well-running Win11 desktop machine. I just needed to update my Foobar2000 app to the newest version, and when done, the Foobar app icon in the taskbar displays a default "document"...
Thanks everyone.
Worked perfectly!!

Those are all excellent points, but I get that with Google ecosystem, which is (somehow!?!) less intrusive than MS's approach. Hopefully, my son will be able to use 365 the way his Prof...
Great feedback. Thanks!
Maybe we'll start with turning off "Backup" as opposed to uninstalling OneDrive altogether, as my son's school requires the use of Office365 (they supply it) and there may...
My son just got a new Win10 machine and got himself set up on it. Today, I went to help him with a software install and I saw that OneDrive has sort of taken over things! Folders on the desktop...
Excellent.
Need to look into this further.
Thanks!!

Jack - thanks for your insights. I can def move on, but I'd like to be able to access the "C"drives that are shared. Thankfully, I can share our printer across the network when I access both...
Welcome to my personal nightware: Win10 networking.
As of today, neither of my Win10 laptops can see each other, yet again. This was totally resolved last weekend, resulting in my post above,...
Thanks! I'll look into this tool.
OK - back to this issue after not having the time to devote to it. I re-read this entire thread and tried a number of things mentioned in this thread one more time. Nada.
Then I went back to...
Good to know. The update is underway - hoping for the best.
I'll be getting back to this network problem tomorrow.
I really appreciate your help so far! Thanks!
No, not yet.
More importantly, I thought the other laptop was updated to the latest Win10 update - it's not, but it's on it's way now. I need to get both at the same version and try again. How...
Hey OldNavyGuy,
Thanks again for the ideas.
I created the batch file, created a task to run it at startup, and made sure both laptops on my network had the same batch file/schedule. Zippo.
...
memo09, OldNavyGuy:
Thanks for the quick replies! Restarting this service on one or both laptops didn't do anything. It seems that the batch file would be a nice automated way of doing this, but...
Thanks Jack. Just getting back to this. Still a problem.
I did as you asked and my laptop, that used to connect 100% fine to the other laptop on my home network prior to the last Windows update,...
Still looking into this.
I welcome additional ideas.
Not resolved just yet!!
Prior to rolling-back, I definitely want to look into anything that I can do regarding settings that may have gone astray.
Thanks for your input so far.
Well, 4 weeks of network bliss, then it all goes to hell in a handbag. Both laptops on my home network can no longer see each other.
I didn't notice exactly when this happened, but the only thing...
Samuria:
When I put my IP addy in this calculator:
IP Calculator / IP Subnetting
It spits out my subnet, exactly.
Does that tell you something?
Jacee:
Yes - after being frustrated after...
Samuria,
Thanks for that!
I checked my router and the AP Isolation is disabled and there are no other "protections" enabled.
I am stumped!
Hey Jack,
Thanks for your support.
I cannot ping the other machine using IP.
I re-enabled SMBv1 Client and Server on both machines, just b/c last time this worked for me, it was the setting I...
Thanks Jack.
If I tracked you correctly, since both machines have SMBv1 Client and Server enabled, and it's not working, I can uncheck both, on both machines since Win10 is on both machines. ...
I need to connect two laptops on my home network via WiFi, one of which has a printer attached via USB that I need to share. I read this recent post from Yertiz on the same issue. I followed the...
Got it to work!
I had to manually define the physical connection to the printer (actual path).
Didn't bother to do that initially, as I didn't think I could get the path syntax right.
But I did....
