Breakthrough! I installed Firefox 5.0 on the VM and found that I was able to successfully access 5 websites. The million pound question now is if I can go online with Firefox, why...
Recovery key? I've heard of recovery drives, but not recovery keys.
Now I've got a problem with my newly created 2K3 VM. The system isn't booting properly. A strange, bios-like beeping sound is heard when trying to type or press a key on the keyboard.
jimbo45 As we speak, I am downloading a copy of 2k3 and I'm gunna try to install it on a VM. However I'm not giving up on 2k. Not yet, at least. Would you like me to post the link to download the 2k...
That's why we have VMs. No matter what OS you're running or how old it is, there's no need for the latest drivers etc because all that stuff is provided for you through virtualisation technology. All...
You don't need to, I'll give you the link to the website where I downloaded the VM.
P.S. It's 2k3, not 23k unless there's an operating system called Windows 23000 hahaha.
jimbo45 The VM already came with VMware Tools. I'm using Windows 10 Home X64 and my version of VMware Workstation is 12.5.2.

Yes, it didn't work.

I'm still having my problem; replies seem to have dried up.
I tried editing the VMX file as stated on https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=507 to no...
My VM is using virtual hardware version 5. The internet speed is 1Gbps on the VM but my host internet is nowhere near that speed. Heck, sometimes I can't even get 1Mbps out of it.

Get well soon, Hippsie! Thanks for the kind words, not many people understand what it's like to have no eyesight and I'm often bullied and criticised [emoji20]
Just tried changing the network from NAT to bridged (the replicate physical network connection state checkbox was left unchecked) but still no connection.
Apparently Windows ME is an epic fail because it crashes all the time, gets BSoDs etc. Windows 2000 is like Windows ME on stabilisers, if you catch my drift.
Are you using ethernet or wi-Fi on the host?

jimbo45 I don't have any firewalls set up, nor does the VM have any built-in firewalls enabled as ICF isn't supported in Windows 2000. The problem could be down to 1 of 2 things.
1: The virtual...
Berton I already have Windows 2000 SP 4. Sorry I forgot to mention it.
Hi,
I'm having a really frustrating problem when trying to connect to the internet on my Windows 2000 Professional virtual machine running inside of VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.2 on a Windows 10...
Kari I see your point, communicating privately about a problem will isolate other members from the community that might be having the same problem. I apologise for my mistakes in understanding.

Kari that reply was specifically directed at HippsieGypsie however I am willing to help anyone out, be it publicly or privately; that's why we have the message option. Not many people offer to sit...
HippsieGypsie I have to agree. OneDrive can be a real pain in the backside, especially when uploading a file on one device and trying to view/access it on another.
P.s. If you need any help with...
dalchina thanks, that seems to have solved the problem. I went into my autoplay settings and changed the removable drive option to "Take no action".
I keep getting the error: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action" when I connect my Toshiba external hard drive which is just under 1TB (931GB) in storage...
Berton what antimalware/antivirus do you use? Mine is hitman pro and it seems to be working great, however I don't know if mine goes as far as checking the registry like yours.
