There has been a lot of interesting discussion but no one has really addressed my actual problem (see original post). My wife:s win 10 laptop does not show this thick-thin (anti-aliasing) issue when...
Will give it a shot.

One last question -- if I recreate the usb installation from latest win 10 iso in msdn will that allow me to repair inplace?
150 Gb free on drive C:.
Yes I currently have 10586 version and the usb was created within the first week after Win10 RTM. So that could very well be the problem. One would have liked a better...
Chkdsk from Event Viewer:
Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.
No further action is required.
I am using the same USB installation medium that I used originally to...
Updated system spec.
diskmgmt.msc:

chkdsk always says drive locked === I ran it during boot but you don't see any results that way.
I got this message:

I got to the point at the beginning where I can select to save all files and apps (that is the whole point of the repair inplace) and it won't let me select that option. It says something like your...
I am running at native resolution (1920x1080) and at 100% (recommended).
In the attached display snippet below you can see my problem. This is a snippet of the Display Settings screen; the different choices along the left side. Clear example of the problem is the...
Thanks -- the tutorial worked perfectly and created a shortcut on the desktop which takes me right to Windows Update.
However, Pin to Start on the shortcut did not appear to work, I tried it...
Title says it all --
In particular, Windows Update tile which was created by right-clicking on Update & security box in settings and selecting Pin to Start. The tile opens up the Windows Update...
Take a look at Winaero Tweaker -- I changed many of the system fonts to my own favorite using that utility.
I used Winaero Tweaker and changed the font used in many UI elements including icon labels. It worked very well.
Have you figured out how to change the background color on File Explorer from that awful White??
There was a long thread about this. Basically, half the people love it and half the people hate it.
PS: I am a hater.
I think I tried that by logging into Microsoft account in Store; but when I next booted up windows, it asked for Microsoft account password.
I will test this again.
dencal -- You should have looked at it a third time. He is asking how to get rid of the line not our opinions about it. Of course, I made the same mistake since I gave an opinion myself rather than...
Title says it all. I like to boot up and log in with no password but I want to use my Microsoft account when I am fooling with store apps. Is this possible?
Interesting title made me open this topic but if you can't be bothered to use paragraphs, I can't be bothered to wade through it.
We never had or needed the lines before. Just color the entire icon like was done before to indicate that the program is active.
I installed the QT_tabbar addon for file explorer and not only did it add the tab functionality (which I love) but the explorer window is definitely not as white (a little bonus)
I think you need to save the mouse scheme after you apply the new changes. You can also create a new scheme (give it a new name) and save it. It will always load the last saved scheme at reboot.
Definitely uninstall WindowBlinds before doing an upgrade install of win 10. It has corrupted my vertical taskbar such that it takes up half of the screen. Even after uninstalling WindowBlinds, the...
