My box is an HP Envy 750-500, i7, 24gb, 512SSD, 64bit running W10.
Which kernel? How is this solved?
Any help appreciated.

New to W10. Need suggestions for protection from all the evil that lurks on the internet and anyplace else.
Anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-dimwits and anti-anyproblemsthatmightarrise.
Thanks,...
My apologies for the delay. However... SUCCESS!!!
If at first you don't succeed, suck a lemon until you do succeed.
I opened my box and reset the bios on the motherboard.
Anyway, been busy...
By changing flags, the HP logo remained on longer.
Pressing F9 or F10 did no good.
Ok, however, how do I get Ubuntu out of there?
Ubuntu is on the SSD. Gparted can do nothing with it. I've tried changing flags.
Booting up via CD is not possible.
It seems to me that you are trying to get into your BIOS as a two step process, when in reality this is really a one step phenomenon. Before you even hit the power switch of your PC, you already need...
Only have an hour or so this am to work on this. Be back the afternoon.
Have to leave. Try again tomorrow.

OK, we are getting somewhere. Grub opens with 3 options.
1. Ubuntu
2. Advanced settings.
3. System Setup.
1 opens ubuntu.
2. Turns off computer.
3 Turns off computer then restarts and repeats...
Where do you boot, what HDD?
Boot from SDA = 512gb SSD.
Here is /etc/default/grub
# If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update
# /boot/grub/grub.cfg.
# For full...
Just booted up. Pressing the left shift key continuously. No menu appeared.
You are correct, Rocky; I am wrong. I meant the HD you boot up on.
Also, I never see grub when booting up. It goes through to my home screen.
Confused.
Grub is already installed.
When booting up, the HP logo comes on and goes off so quickly, no key can be pressed quickly enough to get into the bios. Supergirl couldn't even do it. If pressing any key prior to the HP logo...
Using the GRUB menu you can easily enter into your BIOS.
How is the grub menu opened?
My box is an HP Envy 750, i7, 24gb ram, 500gb SSD, 2 X 1tb HD's, 1 X 250gb external HD.
Typing F10 repeatedly as fast as possible isn't fast enough. There is only a split second.
I prefer Ubuntu...
What needs completed:
Remove Ubuntu 16.0.4 Install W10. Reinstall Ubuntu dual boot.
First problem:
Can not get into bios to change settings to boot from W10 DVD.
The reason is, the HP logo...
Any suggestions on data recovery software to use?
Did a restore with a W10 repair disk using a previous restore file.
The H drive (1tb) is now blank. Can read and write to it but all previous data is missing.
Is there any way to restore this data?...
Finally got the BIOS back by opening the box and moving the default PW switch from on to off, then back on.
Once in the BIOS the DVD was not listed. Got out an old external DVD and it worked.
I'm...
Great... do not have W10 disk and W10 repair disk does not work.
Do have an old Dell laptop with W7, will that work?

That is not the screen that appears.
The screen on reads 'Recovery'.
The only option is 'Press ESC to continue' which goes to a black screen after several seconds.

Yes, I went to that...
