Doing so in a safe environment through CMD still didn't make it go away since it's still a part of the Windows interface.
I installed Macrium Reflect Free, went through these steps to create the...
Hmm, which is faster. I attempted a Live Linux Drive already but it was very slow and would not boot, not to mention I don't know a thing about using linux.
Would option 2 be easier? I looked at...
I set the Storage option for Windows Store to start installing apps too my D:/
Because of that, it created a folder called WindowsApps.
Now it's time that I want to delete that folder, and all...
I installed Macrium Reflect Free, went through these steps to create the media on a USB or CD.
Don't forget to check the UEFI/MBR box if you are attempting this yourself.
I then booted from it...
I'm wondering why there is seemingly many versions of library icons in the navigation panel of windows explorer, 2 of my computers use different explorer icons and I cannot change them in any way. ...
Believe it or not, this was my solution for fixing Windows settings... what a non-sensical fix, haha.
If windows settings aren't showing up, it seems they're all stored in User files or something....
Hmm, and you've never had an index before? You always have it empty until you added user folders?
Most of us here have a full default index with user files, start menu items, and offline files such...
Hmm, that's what re-registering all apps did for me, but it still didn't for Windows Settings to appear for me.
I've made a discovery, maybe somebody here will know how to help me.
It seems to be the settings app itself being broken, or at least its index, as windows search seems to be finding control panel...
I too suffer the same fate.
Here is a thread I've been a part of for the last 2 weeks.
error - Windows/Cortana Search - Windows 10 Forums
The best solutions are in the last few pages, I made one...
Yes, the User library holds the search info for control panel and many other Microsoft programs. It's set by default for my two machines. Glad you brought it up, as nobody has really been speaking of...
Negative, I for one have been through 6-8 clean installs, and 3 upgrades, and this has appeared on all but 2 installs for me.
The only 2 working clean installs are the ones on my Desktop and Laptop...
Hmm, even with the most thorough sweep, the settings never return for me, just everything else.
This is very irritating, having the only thing break being the only thing that once worked.
There...
I tried setting all of the library to default their default location, and created new folders for them as well.
and followed Firey1989's steps.
Everything is fine again with applications, but...
My applications are all still searchable, but the new windows settings are still not searchable.
I can still search "settings" and find the new app, but for example, I cannot just search "Upda-" and...
I seemed to get everything searchable again through reindexing and a lucky install, but now "new" Windows Settings aren't searchable, only old control panel features...
I reindexed, but it didn't...
I have very similar experience, she is very picky.
I for one simply reinstalled windows a few times until I got an install whose search worked right away (took 4 absolutely clean installs...)
So I...
Turns out, only way to fresh install and get activated is following 2 simple rules we all probably messed up:
1) Upgrade from 7/8.1 to 10 and reach the desktop, making 100% sure windows is activated...
I honestly never had this issue the very first upgrade and the very first clean install I ever had, but I've clean installed 5 times since then with this issue appearing right away every single time....
I already went through that struggle too man...

Don't be so eager, this has happened to 2 of my clean installs so far. Ironically my upgrade and very first clean install never had such issue.
I'll try more of this threads solutions, but so far...
I guess it's not tied to your BIOS (the Microsoft operator kept saying that, he must have had no clue) but it is tied to your specific motherboard, I'm guessing by serial number or etc.
I have this same screen as the attached picture...
If this is indeed a generic key (which I have the same last digits of as well) I believe we are indeed screwed.
I called Microsoft.
