yes downloaded fresh tool - tried running as admin - running without saving, saving, copying file onto desktop - always the same error can only think somehow I am download a duff file.......but...

ahhhh - problem solved. Duff usb stick - used another it found and is now being detected.
I used the Microsoft tool to create the usb.
There is no bios password. It just there doesn't seem a way of changing settings in the security section of the BIOS.

I wouldn't say its the obvious thing to do. I like to upgrade from a fresh install - so doing a load of updates then upgrading doesn't seem logical to me.....hey ho ..i suppose !
