Hi There,
I have 17 large outlook 2016 files ranging from 1GB to 10 GB. I initially put them into my OneDrive folder and identified them for synching. Bad mistake because it takes days to upload...
Yes onto the desktop
So having never created a batch file before, i thought I would give it a go. I did what you suggested Pyprohly, created the batch file using Notepad on the desktop, dropped the stubborn folder set...
Ok I'm always nervous when I start booting this way.
Just so that I am clear, I boot up using a windows repair disk, boot to a command prompt, navigate to the folder location and delete? Yes, no?
Yes I think it's an old Windows folder but from last year when I had a rebuild but it didn't delete automatically and I recall the folder was called windows(old) or something like that. I tried to...
Hi Dalchina,
(sorry maybe I should have started a new thread)
I have just found another folder with sub folders that I can't remove. I think it was an empty windows(old) folder.
I have reduced...
Hi Dalchina,
Well that was a very easy fix! Just reduced the folder names to a single letter each and the shortcut deleted straight away.
Thanks, again!
Cheers
Paul
Thanks again dalchina and will have a go tomorrow now.
Ok will try that but note that as far as I can tell, the name is only 206 long.
Just saw that the path is included in the number and that would definitely make it over 255.
Hi there,
I have noticed that during backups that one of my files can't be removed.
It's actually an old short cut and when I right click on it I only get two options, "Print" and "Send to".
When...
All sorted now and everything seems to be fully indexed.
Notes to self:
- Have a disk for the OS system and programs
- Have a disk for all data
- Do regular images of the OS drive, me weekly...
Wow lots of useful information there!
My indexing is rebuilding nicely although slowly, not because I found the problem but because I had an image to go back to. Thank God for images!
I have found...
So I tried an image of my C: drive from January which I know worked perfectly well.
Indexing is now up to 10,000+ and slowly going up. Some search results are now finding files.
What is strange is...
It was always b: :) I just got the letter wrong!
Hi Dalchina,
ok I reformatted the drive and loaded the data files back onto it and chkdsk came up clean.
i also installed Crystal but not sure what I am looking for. The health status was Good...
Sorry dalchina, I meant B: drrrrr!
i will try your ideas over the weekend to see if they work.
i did post the same question on Microsoft Community and they just said reinstall! Not very helpful...
Hi Dalchina,
Thanks for helping!
This drive was formatted under another motherboard. I have all of the data backed up so easy to reformat and restore if you think that will help.
Attached the...
Thanks for that but I don't think it is the Permissions.
The D: drive is shown in the indexing list.
Permissions are identical to that of a second machine which has no problems.
Hi There,
I am having indexing problems in that only my C: drive gets indexed and my data drive D: gets ignored.
This means that none of the data on D: is included and as this is where my Outlook...
LOL thanks for that Berton and I'll check them out over the next few days.
Thanks for that Berton and I understand what you are saying.
As it happens, MYOB V12 doesn't place the program in Program Files, it places it in the root C: drive which probably is why you can...
Hi There,
My problem is installing/running MYOB on Windows 10.
I have an old version of MYOB V12 which I have used for years and it does exactly what I need it to do and I don't need the new...
It gave me two sleepless nights and two full wasted days as it stuffed up my work machine, apart from causing me no end of stress! Thank god for my weekly OS drive Reflect image!
After getting a failed KB3194496 an hour ago, I downloaded the MediaCreationTool and Upgraded my machine.
Took about 20mins with no problems and then I got another immediate update which took just 5...
