Well well am I pleased to have you guys onside... So after messing around with different combinations of ram sticks I find only the 2g stick works. The pc fired up with a brand new windows 10...

I've tried the other suggestions without success. So when I get back this afternoon I will have a play with the ram. Thanks Tom

Right i'm back but its not good news.... Can't get the pc to startup beyong the first logo screen. Tried everything I can. The other day I found that F9, when you power up puts it into diagnostic...

Yes it was an ebay purchase so doesn't owe me a lot but all was well when I first got it 6 months ago even with the current graphics card in it. First thing I did was upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10....

OK thanks... The bios is set to PCIE but there is only one slot. It only had a setting for 16k with no other options. Problem now having restarted again because it locked up its gone into windows...

So some strange happenings.... Despite power cycles and restarts yesterday I couldn't get any memtest to work or the windows utility. When I turned the pc on this morning the windows memory test ran....

USB is bootable i've used it before..... I'll give that a try thanks

I used the installer that downloaded with memtest86 and it completed ok. When I restarted the pc it didn't boot from the usb even though I set the usb as first boot device. I also tried pressing...

Hmmm - the plot thickens... I can't run MemTest86 from a usb or cd so I tried the windows memory checker and that won't run either.

Had a pan round google and can't find another alternative. Any...

Well i've still got the same problem of the pc freezing regularly and wondering what I try now.

Incidentally speccy tells me the timings are all the same.

After a fight... and it was a fight... I got the driver updated from 341.92 to 341.96 as suggested by Kbird - many thanks i'll monitor and see how it goes with this driver.

I've now disabled onboard graphics in bios - It was set to PCI and not PCI-E - I will monitor this and see how it works.

It has on board graphics. I hadn't thought about disabling the onboard graphics, I assume you mean in device manager, I'll give it a go and if that doesn't work come back with the specs.
