Thank you for the very quick response. Now I read Windows 11 is coming out and I hope I can just upgrade to it without losing the computers new found speed.
Finally built up enough courage to install the SSD. Thanks to the great instructions I received on this forum everything went well and the computer is working great. I went from 5 minute boot times...

My 10 year old HP desktop is running extremely slow. Perhaps due to the progression of upgrades from Win 7 to Win 8 and now Win 10. Takes almost five minutes to boot up and is slow opening programs....
I've tried the above suggestions and nothing has changed. Startup takes about 4 minutes and after that the drive stays at almost 100% usage for another 10 minutes. I guess I'll just have to live with...
I had no problems with Windows 10 start times but since the Anniversary update, boot time is just under 3 minutes. Any ideas to what to look into for the cause?
