I'll note that for next time. But for now, it got fixed automatically somehow.

Nope. It's on Realtek. That's why I'm so surprised. I have no clue how it fixed itself. I just left the PC running when I left for work and it was working when I came back.

But I got back from...
I have no issues running the Creative Sound Blaster Cinema app on Windows 10, since my drivers come with
Creative Sound Blaster Cinema 3.
The issue is that it only works with Realtek drivers...
I changed the default. However, reverting to Microsoft drivers is not the issue. I would like the Realtek ones to work properly because the Microsoft drivers do not sound as good.
Speakers already are the default. I set it to digital output only for testing.
Something is just preventing the speakers from outputting windows sounds.

More info and weirdness. It's only the Speakers that are not outputting any windows sounds.
If I select the digital output, I can see some sound activity when I test windows sounds (obviously can't...
Some additional info. My board has the ALC 1220 Codec and here are the hardware IDs.

Yes, I have tested this. None of the sounds on this tab play when I test them. However, the speaker testing sounds do work:

SO, I finally worked this all out myself and this would probably work for any ASUS motherboard owners having issues with Realtek audio drivers on Windows 10.

Dang. It would really be a helpful feature for desktops too in case they're stolen or something.
Is there ANY way to enable this on a desktop? Some sort of registry hack to trick it into thinking the desktop is actually a laptop?
The log was empty. But all is well now. Discreet GPU is an 820M, btw. I had to do a clean install of Win 8.1 and then upgraded to 10 immediately. Completely avoidable if MSFT had just made...
Yes, that is the last resort and I'm doing that now. Will update on outcome.
Resized drive C. PC only came with one main partition. Deleted Dell's backup partition which was taking about 20gb. I am booting with the cleanest boot parameters possible but still no dice.

Updated windows, Ran DISM restore health, disk cleanup, and did a clean boot, but it still fails @25%
I'll certainly try your method after windows update is finished. Sorry if I seemed irate. I've been stuck dealing with this all day! :(
Let me clarify, the PC is brand new. I have nothing installed. Not even chrome. Running DISM right now and will run windows update when its done.
yeah, a check mark on all the items on that list, except windows update. I'm running DISM restore health now to see if that helps and will run windows update afterwards.
