I just tried reinstalling StartIsBack but that doesn't solve it. Seeing as the problem occurs in Windows 7 as well, it has to be due to the start menu (what's left of it in Win10) rather than...
Bit of a long-winded approach, but it definitely works, thanks!
In Windows 8 and below you could type any text for the text-to-speech to read, but Windows 10 doesn't seem to let you do that. Is there a way to get this feature back?
This is the dialog for those...
Perhaps, but Windows 7 has the same issue. If I can get a solution to the the Windows 7 problem it will probably work for StartIsBack on Windows 8 and 10, considering StartIsBack really just uses the...
The error is clearly there in the screenshot.
Typing "command" is to search for "Command Prompt" in the start menu. In fact, command.com has not existed in Windows since XP (or Vista, I don't...
I have a problem that seems (to me at least) to be quite common as well as annoying when it happens because you don't know when it started occurring and have no way to fix it, which is why I am...
Nope, I definitely hit 4 instead of 3.
Turns out it was my keyboard, I tried a PS/2 keyboard and it worked fine but for some reason hitting 4 on my main keyboard boots into low resolution video...
Sorry for the crap title, I couldn't think of a better way to word it :chuckle:
But anyway I'm having a strange problem on one of my computers, where when I boot into safe mode, the resolution is...
What does that do?
I wouldn't risk replacing system files like that. Glad to have been of assistance :)
Try installing the Intel SATA AHCI drivers. You might be able to find them on the appropriate web page for your Lenovo laptop model.
Then I doubt the problem has anything to do with the card reader. It might your hard drive(s). Is your laptop running the default Microsoft AHCI/SATA drivers?
I'm sure that's possible but it's not a solution.
What about disabling the card reader in device manager? (finding out whether or not it's the card reader causing this)
If you unplug your card reader does it still happen?
The Performance tab in Task Manager shows the Ethernet usage properly, but in the Processes tab, if it's svchost or whatever using the network, it'll show 0 or 0.1 Mbps. If I'm downloading something...
When I notice my internet is abnormally slow the first thing I do is check the Performance tab in Task Manger to see the network usage. When I see the high network usage I know Windows Update is...
Bump
Also I noticed that in Task Manager, on a virtual machine, I can see how much bandwidth svchost.exe is taking. But on my real PC, it shows 0 Mbps. For whatever reason, on my main PC, Task...
Thanks, I'll try it out and see if it works.
Although why should I have to do this when Windows 7 handled bandwidth just fine? Also, rather strange that it's only 20% by default in Windows XP but...
Already have that disabled, and on a side note the "share updates with other PCs on the network" feature doesn't even work.
That only applies to CPU priority
Well maybe that method does NOT cause a BSOD? I updated my post with the restriction policy method after you said renaming the LockApp folder causes a BSOD, so there was the possibility that you...
It's not a CPU/memory usage issue, it's a bandwidth priority issue. I want Windows to auto-update, just let the web browsers have higher priority than Windows Update. Those "fixes" disable automatic...
Have you tried the software restriction policy method?
When does the BSOD appear and what is the error message?
