All non-MS device drivers have been turned off, except for Intel & Gigabyte (motherboard) ones.
BSOD.
Turned off every autorun prog except for .
BSOD.
Turned off all remaining services & drivers...
BSOD.
Uninstalled avast.
BSOD.
More drivers and startups to disable...
So what I'm trying now, fire up autoruns, start disabling non-MS drivers. Wait.
Same thing as per my previous attempt.
kmode_exception_not_handled
And this time I turned verifier off, once at the command line, the other in the gui. To no avail. Windows couldn't load...
Well when I tried it, I neglected to do a restore point and thus didn't get a choice.
I'll try it again and see what happens. But will pay attention and create another restore point first.
Just a rant here.
After multiple failures with a failure in the cumulative Windows 10 update KB3116908. The "fix" to delete entries in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download didn't work.
So...
Thanks. Per my earlier post, when I originally did the Driver Integrity thing I got a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error, a reboot, another of the same error, a reboot, a "Windows couldn't load...
Crashed again. I have uploaded a full memory.dmp (zipped up) to OneDrive (wow, is the upload speed SLOW!)
Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.
Just...
PS - windbg says
Memory manager detected 63884 instance(s) of page corruption, target is likely to have memory corruption.
So another fingers crossed that crash was due to the improper memory...
Good catch! Can't remember the last time I put in the memory. Anyway, I have reinstalled it correctly.
Subsequent changes: probably nothing looking to do with my problem, but looking through the...
I've attached a new zip file (as before, I had to zip it manually before the second prompt removed the folder). I kept the machine off all night to avoid the constant bsod reboots.
Additional things subsequently done: had some Back Blaze errors in event log and just removed it for now. It's a process that always running and I have other issues with it after the upgrade (thinks...
Sorry, axe0, I mentioned my issues with dm_log_collector and then veered off into my BSOD problems and then created an "official BSOD" post. Should have stuck to the topic here.
DAMN! So I tried the Driver Verifier mentioned here: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
Rebooted, got KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error. It automatically...
My continuing sage about my "upgrade" from a very stable Windows 7 Pro X64 to a very unstable Windows 10 Pro X64.
All the things that I have done are detailed in the thread here:...
Still got repeated BSODs (four in one hour while sitting at a logon prompt).
Ran sfc /scannow again and this time
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired...
"Upgraded" from a very stable Windows 7 Pro X64 machine to a completely unstable Windows 10 Pro X64. If bsods and reboots constantly (looked in my event log and it did it approximately every 10...
Just ran it again and apparently I wasn't paying close attention. It creates an sf_debug folder on the desktop, and at the last Press any key to continue prompt, it deletes the folder. The zip file...
Repeated BSODs. I run dm_log_collector and after running it immediately deletes the zip file that it creates. It's not in my recycle bin either.
Advice?
One is supposed to be able to disable specific Windows hot keys via a registry edit by adding a REG_EXPAND_SZ entry called DisabledHotkeys in...
Thanks axe0. At this point things are running fine after the install from ISO so no reason to dissect the problem further.
PS - Installed via ISO on USB drive. Worked, although there was a bit of a problem getting it to allow proper resolution for my Samsung monitor...
Trying to upgrade Win 7 Pro x64. The old SSD with the OS wasn't big enough; s new larger SSD arrived today and in about 20 minutes (thanks to Macrium Reflect) I was up & running again.
Then...
