Did you install 64-bit? I chose 32-bit because I thought it would be a better fit. I did play with the notebook for most of the day after installing Windows 10, just testing things here and there. ...
I believe you're correct. Out of curiosity I popped the SSD in and clean installed Windows 10 32-bit. The bugger was running like a turtle. Web browsing was slow but tolerable. Youtube, on the...
Good link. Thanks. I know absolutely nothing about Linux so every bit of info helps. Based on what I watched on Youtube just this evening, I couldn't use Utuntu unless I had 4GB RAM. I may try...
I am all for trying new things. Thank you.
My next quest, learn Linux. :chuckle:
Thank you for sharing your personal experience. This is exactly what I need to know. He will definitely want Youtube so I guess I have come to the end of my quest. Too bad, he really loves his...
Thank you for your reply. Funny, I have recently bought a Dell Latitude D630 that was upgraded to Windows 10 64-bit. It had two mismatched memory modules, the first one 2G 6400s and the second one...
My son has an old Acer notebook. It still works but not without the occasional hiccups, probably a compatibility issues. It's an Acer Aspire One D260 on Windows XP. Intel Atom Processor N450,...
No, you're not crazy because it didn't just happen to you. I disabled update too but the day after that I turned off my computer it began to update. It was very annoying so I asked a support guy...
Oh okay. The way they put it was very confusing. I have already disabled automatic update. Will sign up for notifications and update when needed. Thanks.
Thanks. I think you're right and that's exactly what I am going to do. I checked your link but seemed like notifications for IT people only. Is there one for just regular updates?
Yes, I found out when I came back from outside I saw a popup stating my computer would restart in a few minutes. It was a good thing that I came in before it restarted again. Seriously? How many...
Victim is how I feel now. The computer restarted this morning and within 10 hour it wanted to restart again. Why on earth would they make such design to restart my computer that often? When it...
This is hopeless for low tech people like me. I just want a simple computer that I can use without having to keep fearing what Windows may do to complicate things. Why can't I decide when my...
Yup. I am very close to the router and it's 100% still drops signals so will have to keep digging.
If I get near the router it does give more connection strength. I can't tell you about drop signals because it happens so randomly. But I will read up that link you posted here. Thanks!
I didn't purchase the router. Shaw came with it and did the installation so never paid attention to what type it was. Where do I find the information? Does it say on the router?
Not the 5G one. That one never worked properly.
Did I get everything this time?
Sorry. Didn't realize it didn't copy the whole thing. Will try again.

Is it safe to post such information in a public forum? Sorry for being paranoid, just want to make sure.
I have to replace my Sony VAIO that ran Windowns 7 because of the graphic card kicked the bucket. This new Dell laptop "supposed" to be better and faster but there's one problem - it keeps dropping...
