So now about the main reason I came looking for help which is to get rid of that command prompt popping up for like a split second.

Okay well all seems well so should I just keep the old hosts file in there or delete it?

At the part where you said put the new hosts file where the old one is and to see if all is well what am I looking for exactly is this to stop the command prompt from opening up at random times?
